THE PROM
6th-7th Dec 2006ok i promised i'd blog about this since i have the time now. what could possibly get twisted in preparation for prom? ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! this is the tale of a century. never could we have thot our road to prom could be this... lemme find the word... weird.
{ 3 DAYS TO PROM }i flew back from HK on 3rd dec. which gives me 3 more days to prepare for prom! thankfully my trusty mates (the mamasans) sourced out my prom dress and did the alterations for me before i touched down! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! i really have to give my hats off to them cuz they had been beeing through town day in, day out for 5 days in a row before i returned! 4th dec, i went shopping with them to get my shoes and some accessories.
* * *the weird tale begins...
one of the days while i was still in HK, shu received a call fr her VJ friends asking her if she wants to play poker. by some twist of fate, shu (who usually would decline n cont. sleeping), actually showed up at the intended location far away from her place. she was introduced to a guy called Kenji (whom is a very generous person and a nice guy as we got to know him in the future). coincidentally, our prom is on the same day as VJ's prom, different hotels though. K was really nice to have offered to arrange for make-up and hair styling for us. joy to the world! we don't have to make our own arrangements n not trusting whether things will turn out fine.
{ 2 DAYS TO PROM }i guess fate has a thing for games... 2 days away from prom and K called to say there would not be arrangements for hairstyling. naturally, our first reaction was panic. we were suffering from a couple of problems already actually... we were at Plaza Sing when this occurred. immediately, shu and lili went to Jean Yip with the intention of booking a time slot for us all. just then, shu's phone rang! (ok tt's not very surprising) she picked up, and guess what... SHE WON $500 WORTH OF MAKEOVER! but still, she booked the slot just in case.
{ 1 DAY TO PROM }we decided after all the drama, we should just hang out at shu's place while she attempted to put her manicure skills to the test! poor shu.. she tried to do for all of us and she really tired herself. that's a good deed she had done.
{ DAY OF PROM }we seriously prayed nth more could go wrong. and guess what! aft all the sufferings, aft things couldnt get worst but can still get weirder, here comes the rewards! in the morning, i went to shu's house cuz the day before, i had a last minute fill-in for one of the teachers and ended up working from 6-10pm, ruining the nails she did for me. as she was doing all over again tt morning, she received a call! CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'VE WON A COMPLEMENTARY SPA TREATMENT! shu was on a roll! a winning streak! ya see, that's karma! she decided not to go for the $500 makeover thing cuz it requires photoshoots.
met pi at j8 and cabbed to plaza sing. lili, shu, pipi, gigi n i went for the hair appointment at Jean Yip. the place looks more professional than the other branches but we didn't know what was coming our way. we sat there. each of us had different hairstylist. boy were they good! lili's got ROCKER doing her hair! as they were doing our hair, lotsa younger hairstylists were watching the "show". we were at first thinking, perhaps they were learning from the more experienced ones here. soon, we got to know that our hairstylists were the ones who do for celebrities in Star Awards! WHAT!!! WHAT!!! shocked to my bones! and we only payed $35 each! what luck!
me: i felt i popped out from goong, seriously.
pi: she had a rock-chick hairstyle! love it!
gi: simple but elegant!
li: OMG! seriously i didnt noe wad to expect cuz her hair is the shortest. the rocker actually did a bun like thing but covered it with a rocker-elegante feel! the rocker really rocks! and he's cute!
shu: ahhh! she can rock on with pi cuz hers shouts!

shugigi went to book our hotel at Hotel Rendezvous, while xixi and zizi will be giving us a surprise later on. things were lookin' up. we made our way to Hotel Rendezvous to meet gigi. after that we had to find our way to Ritz Carlton to do make-up. problem was, it was further than expected. we almost took a bus which would be really awkward. K's friend, Mattew (another very nice and generous guy) offered to pick us up. but we had a little trouble with directions and he couldn't find us. we ended up walking from the hotel all the way to Chijmes! ahahah it was a very memorable experience... we made it to Ritz eventually of cuz thanks to Mattew. K actually booked the biggest suite at the highest level (31) of Ritz. it's a really gorgeous place with a wonderful panoramic view of the city. we're really sorry we made the make-up artist wait for an hr. she's really pretty though! i felt really bad. esp since when she helped we with my make-up, i was a bad customer. i'm not friends with make-up and i'm really freaked out esp when there's this scissor-like thing for the eyelashes and when she tells me not to blink i ended up tearing cuz i just have to blink! she said, "relax" like close to 35 times during the whole "procedure". like sorrie..
i can describe prom in one word: ASTOUNDING. astounding at the host (whom i shall not name) because he 1) cannot host properly 2) does not engage my interest 3) tried too hard to be humorous 4) needs to head back to vocabulary for P3s. the hostess was good and she, in some ways, salvaged the situation. A BIG BOO HOO TO THE HOST! u noe the piece of cloth a prom king or queen wears? it's called a SASH. he had to say the word SASHAY like 5 times n still not realizing his uncanny mistake! i wanted to throw the roasted chicken at him! but that would be a waste of my money. plus the chicken might very well fly away before touching his face (i'm joking). ok i'm babbling. so here's some pics...

THE MAMASANSduring the dinner, there was a video. ms zhu addressed her message to our class 34/05. man, it was a real tear-jerker... WE'LL MISS YOU MS ZHU! oh yeah, guess what! just as i was saying, "can't they start with 5?" for the lucky draw, they called shu's number! SHE WON THE 3RD PRICE: A COMPACT DVD PLAYER! after prom, we headed back to Hotel Rendezvous to change for after-prom @ MOMO.
gigi, me, pipi, ziziafter-prom was okay. the club's real crammed up and there were people who were pissing me off. for those who's heels stepped on my left foot twice, it's okay not you. it's this crazy guy whom i tnk is drunk or had a screw-loose who was dancing while flinging him arms everywhere!
do you know how dangerous (not in a sexy way but literally) you are?? some other person, a rather huge guy was dancing like a... SWIVEL CHAIR! meaning he just shifts his weight from left to right to left. he's wasting the space! anyway, thank you Justin from Volleyball for shooing the first one away cuz he was a manace to many folks on the dancefloor. there was a funny event gg on in the mainroom... super hilarious but it's confidential cuz if other people got to know about it, he would have to go for plastic surgery (which i'll advice him to do so at his current state)
after after-prom, we headed over to Ritz to play cards with K and friends. oh yeah! we got him a present! ok presents actually. they're hand-picked by us ok! and the card is 100% original putting lili's photoshopping skills to the test once again since our WTC's teachers' day project. well, hope that he liked everything lah. what do u know! before we arrived at Ritz, the Prince of Saudi Arabia paid a visit to K and friends cuz he booked the rest of the suites at that level so that makes him and K and friends the only people on level 31! i won't say why he booked so many suites. leaving that to your imagination. just a clue, he's a playboy. now, it's really weird isn't it? one boo-hoo was that the darn security guard kept coming to our hotel room to check on us. saying we're too noisy and all. well, i'm down right sure we ain't disturbing the Prince at all since he's a real busy man that night! for goodness sake, level 31 is strictly private! he could have been fired if we filed a complaint.
anyhow, prom's really interesting. and shu... she just got luckier and luckier... she did passed some luck over to me though cuz 2 days later i went out with church peeps to catch a movie (Deck the Halls) and there was some weird smell from some paint job... and now i've got a complementary ticket at THE CATHAY! my mum got a $700 voucher from the major departmental stores i guess she's willing to share it. ok that's all folks!
